My pumpkin is taking over the whole thing though I swear! Don't know know to do with him anymore!!

Nature Sounds

I love that my house backs up to a park. Even though the houses on each side of me are very close, I can sit in a way that I look out and don't see them, just all of the pretty trees. However, what I can't block out are the sounds of living in a very populated area. They don't drown out the beautiful sound of birds, squirrels, or the wind rustling the leaves, and I can usually tone down the trucks downshifting, airplanes getting ready to land in Newark, or the traffic on Route 1. But there are times where I just can't. I was so excited to find this website that I think will help me with that problem! It is a sound mixer that lets you make your own nature soundtrack! I love it!!! Just started playing with it, but I think its going to become one of my favorite sites!

I am so pleased with the growth of my garden! I am amazed everyday that I go out to water it and so excited! Here are some pictures from this morning...

Lovely Lavender!

Today I went to the grocery store and I was stressing because I really need to keep within my budget since I don't get paid over the summer. So anyway, walking up to the door I see they have 1 gallon perennials for 9.99 and sure enough they have a few beautiful lavender plants. So I say to myself if I do good with my shopping, I'll buy the plant. I really wanted it.
Woo hoo I came in $30 under budget for my two weeks! Yeah! However, I felt guilty buying the plant when I am really trying to stick with what I need not just want. So I left.
After I came home and put the food away, I had to drive back past the store to pick up my daughter at the pool. I said "What the heck! I'm going back to get my plant!" So I pulled in, picked out my plant and went to pay. Guess what?! It was only $4.49!!!!! This just seriously made my day! :)

My lovely grape tomatoes. I like the cage thingy because I can really see her growth, when I put this up last weekend, the top was smaller than the lowest circle and now it is just slightly above.

Progress and Weeds

Since I haven't updated in a few days here are some pics from my garden :) I now have a trellis type thing my sister gave me to hold up Jetstar when he gets a little bigger and some wire thing around the grape tomatoes. I've grown a little pea which I am so proud of too!

Now lets talk about weeds, not in my garden though. That hasn't been an issue yet! I was reading up on an herb called mugwort and saw that it grows wildly around here. I also read that mostly it is considered a weed since it can really take over. So what makes a weed a weed and not a plant?

A Day in My Sister's Garden

I spent the day at my sister's house helping her clean out her garage. Here are some pics of her lovely garden!

My sister advised me to start small with my garden and eventually I could fill up the whole empty space where my pool was.
My husband looked at the space that was left and told me "I want to plant corn here!" So today we got some some seeds and we'll see what happens!
